10 January 2013: Parents's Forum, Oakfields Senior Leadership Team with Cognita's Director of Education. The minutes can be found at the bottom of this page.
3 December 2012: Our Vision for Oakfields - Meeting to update Parents on proposed improvements and developments at Oakfields. Oakfields Senior Leadership Team with Cognita's UK Operations Director. The following is an overview.
Our Vision for Oakfields – (Building for your Child’s Future)
At the two meetings held on Wednesday (28th), the School’s Leadership Team comprising myself, Mick Redden-Owen, Laura Ciftci and Bill Walsh, alongside Mr. Dave Gibson (Cognita’s UK Operations Manager) presented to parents our vision for the proposed capital investment and development for the School “Building for your Child’s Future”. These proposals have been two years in the planning, and were received very positively!
Verbal feedback on a meeting with the planners in the summer was very encouraging and we are now waiting to submit the full plans for Havering’s consideration and approval.
The extended hard court area, plus a soft play area, will considerably enhance our already successful class and extra-curricular sports programme.
The relocation of the dining facilities will enable us to provide healthy hot and cold food to all pupils and staff using the Hall as the dining area.
Removing two walls in the Kindergarten will give the younger pupils the much needed ‘free-flow’ area, as is required by the Early Years Foundation Stage (E.Y.F.S.) and enable the staff to observe and track the younger pupils more readily. This is another E.Y.F.S. requirement.
The addition of a large Music Room and two adjoining Practice Rooms in Phase II of the proposed development gives scope for more instrumental tuition and is a very exciting prospect for all pupils’ music-making at Oakfields in the future.
As promised earlier on, there was no time on this occasion to answer more general school questions and issues so a date has now been agreed with the new Director of Education for Cognita, Mr. Geraint Jones, who will be attending school on Thursday January 10 2013 at 6.30 p.m. for a Parents’ Forum.
