The school follows the
Government’s Foundation Stage Curriculum
where children work towards the Early
Learning Goals for Personal, Social and
Emotional Development, Language and
Literacy, Mathematical Development,
Knowledge and understanding of the World,
Creative and Physical Development. Our
educational philosophy combines the best of
Montessori education and modern facilities.
It is based on a sensible balance between
freedom and structure specifically designed
for the young child. It gives your child a
strong basis, during his/her most formative
years for developing into a well-rounded
responsible, happy and fulfilled adult.
He/she will develop at his/her own pace,
using his/her own abilities, discovering the
world through play-based, first-hand
experiences and multi-sensory learning.
We aim to create a caring environment where
each child can reach his/her full potential
and to foster a love of learning that will
stay throughout his/her formal years of
schooling.
Pre-Preparatory School
Years 1 and 2
Children
work to National Curriculum guidelines
during these years. What is unique in our
school is that the Montessori philosophy and
teaching methods continue, particularly with
regard to language, mathematics and in
understanding the world around them, through
History, Geography, Science, Art and ICT. We
combine this with current educational
thinking and practice and in this way
children are given a firm ground on which to
build during the years in the Preparatory
School.
Children undertake the Key Stage 1 tests and
tasks at the end of year 2. They will also
experience lessons in P.E. and Games, which
includes tennis and swimming. The French
language is introduced and Religious
Education will be covered in a
non-denominational way.
“The most important period of life is not
the age of university studies, but the first
one, the period from birth to the age of
six. For that is the time when man’s
intelligence itself, his greatest implement
is being formed.”
Dr. Maria Montessori
