Key Stage 2 comprises Year 3 (children aged 7-8), Year 4 (children aged 8-9), Year 5 (aged 9-10) and Year 6 (aged 10-11). We are proud of our broad and wide-ranging curriculum. Whilst there is a focus on core subjects, we aim to give our pupils a diverse and a balanced education as they work towards making the transition to secondary school. We celebrate high levels of achievement and ambition and push boundaries, so children go beyond simply the acquisition of knowledge; we want our children to be problem solvers, active learners and generous members of the wider society.
Our children enjoy a range of external trips and internal visitors that enrich the curriculum and bring it to life. Regular themed days and weeks are arranged to allow focus on a particular area or subject and to recognise or celebrate national and world events.
Children receive tuition from their class teacher in English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, P.S.H.C.E and Religious Education. Music and P.E. are integral parts of the curriculum and are taught by specialist teachers, as is French.
From Year 3 upwards, all children benefit from verbal reasoning lessons to help to prepare for the 11+ and independent school entrance exams. Children are also offered assistance with selective examinations and interviews.
Parents are kept informed of their child’s progress throughout the year with regular teacher-parent meetings and detailed reports sent home twice a year. Emphasis in discussions is placed on a holistic picture of the child. Our aim is to provide professional advice and help your child achieve their best.
