Since school closure, the teaching staff have been working tremendously hard to plan and resource for our virtual Oakfields school. The children’s needs both academically and with regard to their wellbeing have been at the heart of every decision the teachers have made.
It is undoubtedly going to be very different to the day – to – day experiences we share in our school building, however, our commitment to the children and the value we place on their progress both academically and as social, reflective individuals remains strong.
I have spoken to many of you over the course of the past few weeks and as parents, you have often wrestled with the balance between wanting to sustain academic progress, whilst appreciating this is a time of reflection and rebalance.
Above all else, the health and happiness of our loved ones must come first. Our Senior Leadership Team have spent hours speaking with both British and international colleagues that are experienced in online teaching, as well as learning from experts in wellbeing. Following this, we have written timetables that combine routine with much needed flexibility. Each educational phase has a timetable to suit their age group so please take time to look over your child’s specific year group timetable. A balance of live and pre-recorded lessons will allow the important human connection that is integral to teaching, learning and the sense of community that we hold very dear within our school.
As a staff we are committed to ensuring our children at Oakfields receive the very best education whether that is at home or in school. This online learning will be new for each of us and I thank you in advance for supporting the staff as we transition to this.
