Remembrance Sunday

Children and staff assembled this morning under the big plane tree at the front of the school to commemorate and remember the thousands of servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives over the years in order to defend the rights and freedom of others. Mrs Ciftci reminded the children to keep faith in mankind and to never forget the futility of war. Head Girl Skye and Head Boy Rubin read two poems to help us to reflect, and then a representative from each class presented their cross to Mr Young to fix to the tree.   Lawrencia and Rubin played ‘Abide with me’ and we all felt very emotional as we listened. Mrs Ciftci led a two minute silence and then ‘The Last Post’ was played. It was a beautiful but most poignant service held on the most perfect of autumn mornings.
